About Saul
The author, Saul Saenz was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles in 1984 and went on to begin his journalism career working in multiple markets, New York, Laredo, TX, Tucson, AZ, Orlando, FL, then back to his hometown of El Paso where he was the full-time morning anchor with the ABC affiliate.
Saul is a multiple Emmy award-nominated on-air reporter and recipient of the 2019 first place in the Associated Press for General Assignment reporting.
Saul witnessed first hand and reported extensively on the ravages of the worldwide COVID pandemic. Many became orphans, or lost other loved ones, with little explanation.
It’s because of this, Saul was motivated to explain to his young readers how it’s possible our loved ones will always be with us, no matter the religion, or spiritual school of thought parents subscribe to. Our thoughts and memories of them keep them alive. And if we look hard enough, maybe even see them in the clouds to remind us.
Such was the case for his friend Manny. He learned Saul was writing a children’s book about what we see in the clouds. Manny caught up with Saul one day and showed him a picture of the dog he cherished so much in life explaining he was forced to euthanize him following a veterinarian’s prognosis, which pointed to long suffering before succumbing to the illness. Manny told Saul he searched for a sign that his four-legged partner was in a better place.
Close to two months later, his daughter sent him a picture that undoubtedly resembled Manny’s friend.
